We've been in this house for just over two years now. And, it's taken me this long to finally feel like it's our home. Maybe it's the military wife in me that just can't call a place home until I've lived there for two years...or maybe I'm just lazy...
We finally decided to start painting the house. We've had the builder's horrible flat paint on our walls since we moved in. I painted the bedrooms, but other than that we've been living ina world of beige for way too long. Not to mention we couldn't wipe anything off of the walls without taking the paint right off...it was horrible. Yeah, we have kids...it's a MUST to be able to wipe the walls, ya know?!
After many debates on whether to just put up another shade of (NOT FLAT) beige, or bring some color into the downstairs, we finally decided to do a nice teal blue in the living room, and leave the rest of the downstairs a nice neutral beige. It feels so good to have some color, be able to wipe up smudges, and we even got crazy and rearranged the living room.
I was too lazy to look through and find a more recent photo, so here's one from shortly after we moved in...
Since then we had added some decorative type things and photos to the mantle, and hung pretty teal blue curtains.
Now, here it is today (or rather yesterday when I took these...since my house was actually clean in anticipation of company)...
And, yes...I know the whole strips of stained wood painted with some quotes, sayings, proverbs, etc. has been done and overdone, but I don't care...I still love it, and here's our version...
Now if only we could keep it that clean...
